happy birthday to the ground

yesterday was my good friend preston naegle's birthday. to start off let me just give a little shout out to this kid. we've been friends since we were twelve, in seventh grade, and he's great. he has been an incredible friend to me and done so much for me and i seriously can't imagine the last six plus years of my life without him.
yup that's p. happy birthday preston! :)

anywho...what i want to write about is the cake. my roommate kim and i wanted to make preston a cake for his birthday cuz we love him so much.

let me throw in another little shout out to my roommate kimmie. this girl is absolutely amazing. i went to high school with her for three years and never knew her! and then as fate had it, we were roommates our first year of college, funny how that works. and now that she's in my life, i don't know how i made it this far without her.

k so kim took the cake out of the oven and then we were just sitting around chatting when we smelt something burning about five minutes later. we couldn't figure out what was going on til i asked if the stovetop was on (samantha and i once made brownies and then placed them on the stovetop while it was on and they burned that way...). well kim had just made top ramen right before the cake came out of the oven and well...the stove never got turned off. she jumped up and ran to rescue the cake, and right as she
approched it....

THE CAKE EXPLODED!!!!

well the glass pan exploded. it made a loud kaboomish sound and glass went flying everywhere. and then the cake immediately started smoking, our apartment was filled with smoke in a matter of seconds. we got it cleared fast enough that the fire alarm didn't go off, but it might as well have. we had about ten people come into our room in the next five minutes to see if something was on fire. and...our apartment
smelled like smoke pretty much the rest of the night.

kim, im sorry, but the reason i loved this incident so much was because these are the kind of ridiculous things that happen to me frequently and do not ever happen to you. so this was awesome. and hilarious really.

for those of you who may be coming to snow 206, wear shoes cuz there are probably still little pieces of glass everywhere.

and don't worry, the night was still amazing. we went to a&w for ice cream and had a mini dance party and listened to the song birthday sex about twelve times, so it's all good.
