full circle moment

about ten months ago, i was a brand new freshman in college and had just moved into snow hall. it was a monday night and i had finally been seeing and meeting a lot of new people in my building. a little overwhelmed with all the people around, me and my close friend preston sat in the third floor foyer of snow hall talking when two guys walked in. it was the cute tan boy becca and i had noticed playing soccer earlier at family home evening and a blonde boy i hadn't seen yet. they came in and asked our names then introduced themselves. the tan boy's name was alecc and the blonde boy's justin. they asked if they had interrupted anything, we told them no, but i was still a little put off when they then sat down and stayed. i was honestly sitting there thinking, "really, i'm clearly sitting here talking to another guy, and you're still going to sit down and try to butt in?" i thought alecc was a total tool, but there was no denying he was cute. and both of them did seem pretty cool. so we talked for a little while and found out they were from springville, alecc played soccer and justin played lacrosse, and that they lived here on the third floor.

a few days later i was coming home from 201 when i saw becca, alecc, and justin standing in the hallway talking. they were accusing us of dumping water on their door (which we didn't) and we soon found out that it had been them penny tapping our window that week. they agreed we'd have to hang out sometime soon so they could make it up to us. so i guess that's how the beautiful friendships of snow hall 201 and 306 first began. alecc and i had crushes on each other for the first few weeks of school and then we were just really good friends for the rest of the year. justin and becca on the other hand could easily be nominated as snow hall's/world's cutest couple. we have all had some amazing times together.

today the four of us met at the gateway for lunch since justin is leaving for the mtc this wednesday. we realized we had come full circle. it really feels like people are coming into and out of my life at the speed of light, and it's honestly pretty hard. but i am so grateful for my friendship with these boys and all of our times together, that first night they butted into mine and preston's conversation, our day at the gateway today, and everything in between.

becca was also with me tonight when i told hayden goodbye for two (maybe three...who knows?) years. you'd think i'd be used to it by now but it was still harder than i'd anticipated. but this woman sat there on the way back to my house and was full of words of comfort. i know she's had a rough time but she still comforts me. because she rocks like that. by the way hayden...you're amazing!! thank you for everything. i am so excited to hear about your mission and the great things you're going to do. i love you and i absolutely believe that we can pick right back up on being friends when i see you again.

and i'm grateful that i have my bestie becca with me when it comes to these full circle moments. we've had some monumental friendships the past seven years and we've had to say goodbye to a lot of people and hello to a lot of change. but for some reason, the Lord has allowed us to do it together. and for that i'm so grateful. i know neither of us are going anywhere anytime soon and even though as we walk forward together we've had to leave a lot of things behind us, the memories we've made will last forever and i know we also have some awesome times ahead of us. i love you becca!
